2025 Honda Pilot IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ Rating
The 2025 Honda Pilot SUV has receiving the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating, the highest accolade from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Pilot’s top evaluations in Crash Worthiness, pedestrian front crash prevention, and headlight performance helped in earning its rating. The 2025 Pilot also features enhanced rear seat belts that have improved second-row passenger protection in the IIHS’ updated moderate overlap front test. In total, five Honda models have now received 2024 TSP ratings or better
Honda’s “Safety for Everyone” philosophy, aims to advance safety for all road users. Guided by this approach, every 2025 Pilot model comes equipped with the Honda SensingĀ® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies. This includes the Collision Mitigation Braking Systemā¢ (CMBSā¢) with Pedestrian Detection, evaluated by the IIHS as a “front crash prevention” system; Forward Collision Warning; Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS); and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).Ā All new Honda models come standard with Honda SensingĀ®, with almost 8 million Honda vehicles currently on U.S. roads featuring this technology.
Honda’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineeringā¢ (ACEā¢) body structure, designed to protect occupants in various frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems are also featured in Honda vehicles. During the Pilot’s full redesign for the 2023 model year, Honda engineers enhanced ACEā¢ with a new structure optimized for integration into the front sub-frame and side-frame, improving crash compatibility with smaller vehicles and occupant protection in oblique frontal collisions. The redesigned Pilot also featured Honda’s award-winning front passenger airbag with a three-chamber design, which is especially effective in angled frontal impacts with increased risk of injury where lateral forces can cause an occupant’s head to rotate severely or slide off the airbag. The outboard second-row seats feature updated load-limiting retractors with improved load force settings for the 2025 model to further reduce potential injuries in IIHS testing.
Every Honda model fully evaluated in the NHTSA’s 2024 and 2025 model year NCAP testing has achieved a 5-Star Overall Vehicle ScoreĀ¹, apart from IIHS testing.
